Sunny days in London on Ruislip Lido Beach
2 awesome days completed on the beach at Ruislip--Londons stop on the Volleyball England Beach Tour. I camped out in a shed with Laurie and Lenore beside the Lido--a large man made lake on the outskirts of London. Being a small beach we were more compact with only 5 courts making for a slightly easier setup. I played with a pick up partner from Portugal who turned out to be below average and we didn't win a game!! Rather humiliating when playing ag
ainst guys who have not played much beach and are really of average standard. Makes me wish Cory (my previous partner from Nelson) was here and we could be making semis or finals. At least my hamstring didn't get too stretched and now I have 2 weeks off so it should fully recover. Saturday nite went for dinner with L & L in Ruislip. Found a nice little French restaurant called Cafe Rouge which served delicious food and gave half price meals just for us!! Sunday I was not playing so I could focus mostly on deejaying and commentating. It was another brilliant day meaning heaps of people were there enjoying the beach and park so we had some good crowds watching. Even got a Mexican wave going in the crowd! The women's final was between Vicky Palmer/Liane Herbert and Liane Weaver/Helen Brown with Liane and Helen winning. Then the men's final was won by Tom Lord and Micky Celli. I repacked the van for the trip to Croyde next weekend which I will miss as I'm attending a wedding in France. Then we went for dinner again in Ruislip. Had a great evening together over dinner (huge plate of ribs for me!) with scatterbrain and Charlotte and Chris (who looks gay) being our servers. Wish i was going to next weekends King and Queen of the beach but will have to wait 2 weeks now till we go to Margate.

I have thankful memories of John Miller, as on each of my childhood birthdays, he used to send me a card with £5 inside - a tremendous amount in those days, especially for a primary school child!
I went with Dad to somewhere near Enfield, I think, to choose the engine for the railway. I liked the big blue engine and fortunately, the experts agreed with me and the railway got under way.

I was pleased to see the station still called "Woody Bay". This was the name of a small bay near Combe Martin in North Devon
where we used to holiday in the early years after the war, and I think my Mother suggested the name. Of course the line was much shorter in those days, but it did run past the zoo, which unfortunately is now long gone.E20-340 exam
Once, a wallaby escaped from the compound and was chased by Dad and others across west Middlesex until the animal was recaptured in Southall Bus Garage. There were also the donkeys and donkey rides, and when I was a little older, I was even allowed to ride the pony!312-50 exam
